Destiny - Kitchener's Oktoberfist Event October 9, 2009

Syd Vanderpool & his very dependable team, put on another great event hosting it at Bingeman's Ballroom in Kitchener. The tables were full & the food look great as 11 bouts of boxing commenced. Services by Dslap (Dian & Sheldon Philips of Toronto) were on hand with a great 'Silent Auction' & many went away with some nice treasures from diamond earrings to floral arrangements.

The night opened with Patricia Griffin from Hamilton in the 120 lb division boxing tiffany Nugent from Warriors in London. Very quick action & a lot of nice straight punches that got the crowd involved in the excitement.

Not to be out-done, returning to the ring after a 2 year absence, Weng Hong from The Boxing Loft in Toronto, showed some nice form against the quick moving Ricky Pacheco from Blands in Fort Erie. Two very nice fellas mixing it up. Nice action bout.

Brad Bauman from Hamilton in the 130 lb division had a close bout against Mitch Schuett from Charbs in Hanover. From the unskilled eye, the fight result would have gone the other way but the officials count only scoring blows & that changed the result. Good match from both new comers.

In the 156 lb division in front of his home town, Joe Keta did not want to be out-shone by Brantford's Jassem Jassem. These boxers left nothing in the tank as the fought to the end of the 3rd round. Good for a rematch.

Jade Walsh from Old School in Hamilton took ring center in the 130 lb match against Tristan Gopaul from the Boxing Loft. Tristan also returned to the ring after a 2 year absence. This bout was a good match with both boxers vying for the gold.

Destiny's Jessica Camara at 140 lbs boxed Heather Stuart from Boomerz in London. Heather throws fast & straight blows with zest behind them but this time her game plan was a little off as Jessica fought inside. A very entertaining bout.

Hamilton Boxing Club's Muhammad Ali at 120 lbs put on an exhibition against Warriors from London, Michael Nugent. It was a good bout. Both boxers using their skills to impress the roaring crowd.

In the 150 lb class Lucas Rowe from Destiny boxed Sean Fraser from Charbs in Hanover. There was a lot of leather thrown in this bout. Lucas is a mover & throws nice combinations. Sean is a solid boxer who throws with authority. Nice bout.

In the 130 lbs division Derek Charbonneau from Charbs in Hanover rematched Anthony Kuznik from Old School in Hamilton. The first round went one way & then it reversed for the next two rounds. Now they are one & one. Rematch for the rubber?

In the 165 lbs division Jimmy Guy from Boone's in Niagara Falls, returned to the ring after his 2 year absence & battled the strong punching Jeremy Masterson from Boomerz in London. Jeremy has continually dropped weight to be sitting comfortably as a middle weight & Jimmy has some ring rust to work out but this was a very good match.

In the main event....'Nightmare' Natasha Spence from the hometown Destiny club fought in the 135 lbs division against The Boxing Loft's Rita Lwanga. This was a gruelling 3 round bout with no one giving the other any chance to recoup. Both ladies of the ring were after that Gold & they both deserved it.

Stay tuned for Julius Bunda, Junior (Winston) Dan & Natasha 'Nightmare' Spence when they make their pro debut.
