Counter Punch Promotion presented another Great show April 30th, at the Arcadia Ball Room

Another successful show with a lot of great people. Mario Lechowski presented 6 action filled bouts to the executives of Bay Street in what was billed as Bay Street Brawl #4. The successful event raises funds for underprivileged financially strained young persons & the year to date donation is terrific. The April 30th show gave a few more thousand to the charity. Good going guys!

Opening the night was Spider Jones as the Master of Ceremonies which his usual antics that gets the crowds interest.

The first bout was Greg Morgan against Ian Webster in the 230 lb, Super Heavy Weight Division. No one can predict what will happen when the 'big boys' enter the ring & especially when dealing with novice (boxers that have 10 or less bouts) boxers. This bout got the crowd going & from there it was all uphill for the spectators.

Second bout was a good battle by any measurements when Rob Potwin at 160 entered the ring against Royal Poulin at 158 lbs. Potwin had a prior bout but the earlier experience didn't impress Royal who saw only that Gold Trophy in his sights. Good match guys. This was a split decision bout.

Third battle was Todd Christie against Richard Sharpe from Destiny in the Heavy Weight Division. These bouts, like I said, are absolutely unpredictable. It looked one sided & then all of a sudden turned the opposite way. Nice bout guys.

Fourth battle was Ian FitzGerald at 185 lbs against Andy Kim at 185 lbs. This bout had the taller Fitzgerald using his long reach against the busy Kim who went after FitzGerals with his hands nice & high & worked the body. Very even match for these guys.

Fifth bout had 185 lb Scott Westlake against 187 lb Ryan Atkinson. They didn't float like butterflies or sting like a bee, but they sure gave it their best.

In the Main Event, featuring 225 lb Eddy Casagrande against 230 lb Bill Vastis in what was the loudest bout of the night. The people jumped from their seats to support their favorite boxer. They hit left & they hit right & they stood their ground & then they moved around. This fight was close.

The Officials were: Chief official, Bill Hardy from St. Catharines; Ref/judge Raymond Olubowale from Toronto; Ian Vanderpool from Kitchener; Shawn Barclay from St. Catharines & Sherry Boone from Niagara Falls. The time keep was boxer, Rita Lwanga from Toronto.

The host, Mario Lechowski was definitely over-worked & would have appeared stressed but knowing Mario, one knows that this is a normal level for him. Great staff. Terrific dinner & pretty quick bar service for the amount of people in attendance.
