The night of Saturday January 30, 2010 held all that any show needs - lots of people, good bouts, good officiating, great announcer & the Club NV in Brantford was just a rockin site. Black Eye Boxing Club hosted the event & had 12 live bouts. Security was visible but most of the crowd were great & stayed back of the ring.

The officials were Bill Hardy; Shawn Hardy; Brodie Boone; Jon Broom; Keith Kleinstruber & hitting the gong was Sophie Mielki. The night opened with a female bout & ended that way.

Dana Watson from Black Eye battled 135 lb Janneke Vorsteveld from Lakeview in Janneke's first bout. Dana's experience & time in the gym quickly showed & Janneke handled her proudly. This was Dana's last fight as a novice & she advances to the Intermediate Category.

Weng Hong from the Boxing Loft in Toronto had a tough bout against Ryan Calhoun in the male 135 lb open class division. Weng is a smooth boxer & Ryan more of a brawler but with good hitting power.

Matt Gurney from the host club returned to the ring & battled Warriors from London's JP Royal in the heavy weight bout. No slouches in this match.

Jesse Palmer from Loyalist in Belleville matched against Ring London's 138 lber Brad Foster. Totaly different styles forced each boxer to analyse & regroup & left with a split decision.

Marc Pagacalawagan aka Pacman from Boomerz in London in the 148 lb division boxed Jassem Jassem from Brantford. Marc worked the body well while Jassem tried to keep his height & reach as an advantage. Another split decision in this bout.

Toronto's Rita Lwanga in the 138 lb female open class bout was pitted against Julie Cybulski from Ring London. This bout went back & forth & was rendered a 2-1 decision.

Super Heavy, Craig Hudson from Brantford battled Vern Insley from Lakeview in Goderich. They met. They fought. They tried every angle to score. They exited without a knock down.

From Durham, Charb's Ethan Schwandt in the over 200 lb division challenged Rob Alvarez from Ring London. These heavies had good chins & although they tried to dump one another, they were both standing at the end of the bout.

Jon Edgar from Boone's in Niagara Falls, 140 lb, battled Lakeview's Troy Watmore. It was a short bout, that ended in the first round.

Derek Charbonneau from his club Charb's in Durham, 135 lb division scored well & fought smart against the game Tristan Gopaul who is no slouch, from The Boxing Loft in Toronto. Tristan uses nice clean straight punches & Derek, well heck, he just likes to mix them up. Good Bout.

Hometown's Darren Fletcher in the 165 lbs division boxed against Kyle Millette from Ring London. Even the judges were divided as to who won. It was an action packed bout with great leading off & sound constant rebuttals. Great bout.

Ending the night was Cher Blasdell from the hometown, who was in dynamite condition for this bout. She came to fight as she met up with McKenzie Gryn from Ring London who moved well & was no push-over. These gals looked good.

A night to remember..So remember to be at the next bash March 27th, in Brantford. Site yet to be determined.
